The woman, 29, was married with children but claimed to be single. She also claimed to have leukaemia and four of her relatives demanded money from the man in text messages. The man discovered the fraud after going to the woman's city unannounced.Phone bill rowA man has run up large phone bills after his phone was stolen and his number was not suspended as the phone was registered under a friend's ID, the Chongqing Morning Post reports. When he got a new SIM card he was told the phone had incurred a data bill of more than 4,700 yuan. The man was angry that the telecoms operator had not been suspicious and stopped the service because he had never accessed the internet by phone. He refused to pay and the company offered to reduce the bill to 1,000 yuan, to be shared by the company and the man, and then deducted 500 yuan without his consent.GuangdongThat sinking feelingMore than 250 residents in 13 houses in Guangzhou's Panyu district have moved out after four buildings sank and tilted slightly, the Guangzhou Daily reports. Residents heard cracking sounds as the buildings sank and the ground next to them opened up. The buildings sank at least a 12cm. A commercial property being built nearby and believed to be linked to the sinking has halted construction.Choosy burglarsPolice in Guangzhou are investigating a string of burglaries involving eight car dealerships that had everything of value stolen, except cars, the Y angcheng Evening News reports. The airline says more than two-thirds of the candidates were married with children, whereas the airline currently has 68 such stewardesses, around one-seventh of the total number. More than one-tenth of the candidates are more than 40 years old and 22 are 45.TianjinLife vest thief heldA man has been detained for 10 days for stealing a life vest on a flight from Changsha to Tianjin , Xinhua reports. China Southern airlines reported that the vest was stolen, and it was found when security scanned passenger luggage. The man said he stole the life vest to use when he went swimming and did not realise it was a big deal.Hit and runTianjin is looking for a minivan driver who hit two girls riding a bicycle, Tianjinwe.com reports. The minivan hit the bicycle but did not stop even though one of the girls and the bicycle were dragged more than 300 metres. The van eventually stopped and the driver escaped. The girls were sent to hospital, with one injured on the head, arms and legs and the other suffering minor injuries.ZhejiangStudent raped, killedA 30-year-old pedicab driver in Jiaxing has been sentenced to death for raping and murdering a 21-year-old student he was taking to a railway station, the Xiandai Jinbao reports. The man raped the student and, fearing he might be recognised when light from a train shone on his face, killed her. He was ordered to pay 716,043 yuan to her family.Kindness of strangerA 79-year-old woman in Hangzhou is looking for a middle-aged woman who gave her 1,000 yuan to her when she injured her head on slippery ground, but left without giving her name, the Qianjiang Evening News reports. The woman was hurt on her way to buy lunch and the stranger came up, put the money in her hand and left without saying anything. The woman was treated in hospital and wants to repay the woman.儲存
