Source: The Wisconsin State JournalSept.迷你倉 05--Namio's Sports Pub in Fitchburg is now Funk's Pub and will soon have a new menu, look and identity as an entertainment venue.Jeff and Jenny Funk bought the business Aug. 28 from Steve and April Namio, who ran their sports bar in the former Byrd's Pub and Grill, 5956 Executive Dr., for two years.Steve Namio said he and April decided to sell the business to focus on their gym, Capital Gymnastics Academy. He said their staff will remain, which was important to them. The Funks decided to keep the restaurant and bar open during the transition."We are kind of in the thick of football season and in this particular location, the weekends are kind of key revenue-wise," Jeff Funk said. The Funks changed the name on the menus and are essentially running it "as is" to start, he said.Gradually, they will totally revamp the menu and bring in live music, said Funk, a bass player in at least four local bands (Anna Wang and the Oh Boys, Tinfoil Helmet, the Reminders and Roughneck Grace, which is looking to have its CD release party at the bar in October, he said.)Namio's sports memorabilia is gone, he said, adding that they are aiming for a much more organic neighborhood pub feel as far as the decor goes. The area is home to a broad range o儲存 people, some looking for standard bar food, others looking for something more upscale, possibly even fine dining, Funk said."We're actually going to try to do a little bit of both, and just ramp up customer service and see where it goes," he said.Funk's Pub will have a real grand opening sometime in October, Funk said.Once they get ramped up, he intends to have live music, mostly acoustic, two or three times a week. "It's something that this neighborhood, this area, really doesn't have at this point."Funk went to school for nuclear engineering and started a local computer company that he ran for 15 years. He still owns an Internet service provider called Badger Internet. He is currently getting neighboring businesses gigabit connections to the Internet like Kansas City has through Google Fiber. The pub will have a gigabit Ethernet connection and Funk promises it will be the fastest Wi-Fi in the city. He invites customers to bring their computers and download the equivalent of a full DVD in less than three minutes.Read more Restaurant News at: go.madison.com/restaurantnews.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 The Wisconsin State Journal (Madison, Wis.)
