MSP airport terminal closes when woman tries to bring propane tank through security

Source: Pioneer Press, St.迷你倉 Paul, Minn.Dec. 20--The ticket lobby at Terminal 2 of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was evacuated for more than two hours Friday morning after a woman tried to bring a small propane tank through security.The tank was in a box, which the woman left behind after TSA agents initially refused to allow her through security. A Bloomington police bomb squad was called to make sure it was not an explosive device, according to airport officials.Operations returned to normal by midmoring Friday, though several flights were delayed. The Terminal 2 ticket area was evacuated shortly after 6 a.m. and re-opened shortly after 8 a.m., according to airport spokesman Patrick Hogan.The woman boarded a plane after leaving the box behind, but was removed to be questioned by authorities. The pack自存倉ge did not make it into the secure gate areas, and it was unknown whether the tank was filled with propane.The incident remains under investigation.A heavy police presence caused traffic delays near the airport. Backups continued through most of the early morning. Some travelers resorted to walking to the terminal.Flights were delayed because travelers were not allowed into the ticketing area to check bags until the area was secured.
